The History
After almost twenty years of wandering through the vineyards of Ribera del Duero and Rueda, local wine expert Jaime Saez de La Hoya decided to turn his passion into action in 2001. He carefully selected six outstanding vineyards, laying the foundation for LOESS. The first LOESS wines, named after a specific sedimentary soil type, saw the light of day with the 2003 harvest and came entirely from his own vineyards.
Jaime then set his sights on finding vineyards in nearby Rueda. Disappointed by the mass production that had characterized the region in recent years following its rise to popularity, he set out to make the best Rueda wine. His focus was on harnessing the potential of centuries-old vines. With the support of winemaker Issac Fernandez, LOESS continues to raise the bar. Together, they strive for perfection in two of Spain’s most fascinating wine regions, continually pushing the boundaries of quality and craftsmanship.
